About AI Biz Guide

Written by a 25-year IT veteran who's seen every technology wave — and knows which ones actually matter for small business

Who Writes This Site

My name is Marcus J. Webb. I've spent 25 years in the IT industry — from enterprise infrastructure and cybersecurity for government contractors to software implementation for private sector businesses ranging from 5-person shops to Fortune 500 companies.

I've watched every major technology shift since the mid-90s: the internet boom, the cloud revolution, mobile-first, and now AI. The pattern is always the same — the tools that genuinely help small businesses are buried under a mountain of hype, vendor marketing, and complexity that assumes you have a dedicated IT department.

Most small business owners don't. They just need to know what works, what it costs, and whether it's worth their time.

Why I Started AI Biz Guide

In 2025, I started getting the same questions from every small business owner I knew: "Should I be using AI? Which tools are actually worth it? How do I not get scammed by something that sounds good but doesn't deliver?"

I realized there was no good resource that answered these questions from a practical, technical standpoint — written for business owners, not developers. Every AI publication was either too technical or too shallow. Either written by engineers for engineers, or by marketing teams for clicks.

AI Biz Guide exists to fill that gap. Every guide I write is based on my own evaluation of the tools, real-world implementation experience across dozens of business types, and a commitment to telling you when something isn't worth your money — even if it's popular.

My Evaluation Standards

Every tool I cover on this site is evaluated against four criteria I've used throughout my IT career:

What This Site Covers

AI Biz Guide focuses specifically on AI tools for US small business owners — the people running restaurants, law firms, plumbing companies, salons, retail stores, and every other business category that makes up the backbone of the American economy.

I cover four content areas: the best AI tools by industry, practical how-to guides for implementing AI in your business, honest comparisons of AI versus traditional approaches, and cost and ROI analysis to help you budget intelligently.

I don't cover enterprise AI, developer tools, or abstract AI research. This site is purely practical — what works, what it costs, and how to get started today.

Affiliate Disclosure

Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning I may earn a commission if you purchase through them at no additional cost to you. This never influences my recommendations — I cover tools based on merit, and I've declined affiliate relationships with tools I don't believe in. For the full disclosure, see the Disclaimer page.
